Privacy policy

Applies to every version of BetterTabs.

The short version

BetterTabs does not collect, store, share or transmit personal data. There is no account, no server and no analytics.

What it reads

To draw your tab list, BetterTabs reads the title, web address, window, group and state (pinned, playing) of your open tabs, and the names and colours of your tab groups. These stay in your browser. They are used only to show the list, and are never written to disk or sent anywhere.

It has no host permissions and no content scripts, so it cannot read or change the pages themselves.

What it saves

• The view you chose, the folders you collapsed and your settings, kept on your computer with Chrome's extension storage.
• Names you give tabs and the tabs you add to favourites, held in memory until Chrome closes.

What it sends

Nothing. BetterTabs makes no network requests and loads no remote code. Site icons come from Chrome's own favicon cache.

Add to longbook

On a billing or price page, BetterTabs can open the longbook app on your Mac with the site's name. That link goes to your own computer, not over the internet. If longbook is not installed, BetterTabs shows a link to longbook.app, which opens only if you click it. A setting turns the button off.

This website

This site is static pages. It sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
